Tank Farm Protection
The HIMA Australia SIL3 storage tank farm overflow protection system is an integrated solution specifically designed to prevent events similar to those that occurred at the Buncefield fuel depot in 2005. Both the UK Petroleum Industry Association and the Tank Storage Association subsequently announced the adoption of IEC 61508 and implementation of independent safety shutdown systems at their sites.
HIMA’s overflow protection system solution is a scalable and cost effective solution that is suitable for single tank installations through to large multiple tank sites. The solution is based on the TÜV Rheinland approved HIMatrix range of ultra fast SIL3 safety logic solvers and each project solution is fully compliant with the requirements of AS 61511.
Each HIMatrix logic solver network can safely manage up to sixty-three independent storage tanks using remote I/O units to transfer data. Safety related communications is possible over a variety of media while always maintaining SIL3 integrity.
In addition to the logic solvers, transmitters and valves, this turnkey solution by HIMA Australia comes complete with functional safety assessments and reports to satisfy the requirements of AS 61511.
